Pathfinder Press at the Vancouver LASA 2023 conference
Vancouver, Canada – “América Latina y el Caribe: Pensar, representar y luchar por los derechos” – “Latin America and the Caribbean: Think, represent and fight for rights” was the theme of the Latin American Studies Association Congress 2023 held here May 24-27.
Over 3,000 participated from countries such as the US, Canada, Brazil, Venezuela, Cuba and Puerto Rico, both in-person and virtually, over the four-day conference of more than 900 panels, workshops, and films.
An Authors and Book Presentation, hosted by Pathfinder Press, on The Jewish Question: A Marxist Interpretation by Abram Leon, was titled “Why is Jew-hatred raising its ugly head, including in Latin America, in the opening decades of the 21st Century: The Jewish Question and the World Capitalist Crisis.” The featured speakers were Adriana Hernández, a professor at Havana’s San Gerónimo College and Norton Sandler from Pathfinder Press. Hernandez is the author of El antisemitismo en Europa (Antisemitism in Europe).
She stated, “It’s very important and welcome that this important book by Pathfinder Press is now published in Spanish and can be read throughout Latin America.”
Pathfinder volunteers staffed a large, attractive booth where LASA participants browsed more than 160 different titles. Along with The Jewish Question, other best sellers were English and Spanish editions of The Low Point of Labor Resistance is Behind Us, and Labor, Nature, and the Evolution of Humanity.
