Interest in Pathfinder Books at Asian Studies Conference Reflect Big Changes in the World

COLUMBUS, OHIO —At the recent Association for Asian Studies conference here March 13–16 more than 3,000 professors, librarians and students from China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, the UK, and the U.S. among others discussed topics like Asian immigration to the U.S., human rights in Japan, democratic politics after martial law in South Korea, the Uyghur diaspora, and Taiwanese political history.
The Pathfinder Press booth was the scene of lively non-stop discussions. Our History Is Still Being Written: The Story of Three Chinese Cuban Generals in the Cuban Revolution was the bestseller. One visitor sent a photo of the book to a friend in Cuba where the book is well-known who texted back saying, “That must be Pathfinder.”
The wide range of other titles sold from Are They Rich Because They’re Smart? to Indonesian editions of Woman’s Evolution by Evelyn Reed and The Origin of the Family, Private Property, and the State by Frederick Engels totaled dozens of books reflecting the impact of the big changes taking place in the world because of the deepening crisis of capitalism.
Happy to see the Pathfinder booth, a visitor from Montreal said, "Some of these books were written almost a hundred years ago or more, but given what's happening in the world today, they contain material that needs to be read.”
